Privacy policy

Expliqua keeps what it needs to draft your lessons and run your classes, and nothing it doesn’t. This page says what that is, which services see it, and how to have it deleted.

Who we are

Expliqua is run from Mexico. We’re the ones responsible for your data here, and the way to reach us about it is support@expliqua.com.

What we keep

  • Your account. When you sign in with Google we get your name, email address and profile picture, and we keep a session so you stay signed in (with the address and browser it came from).
  • Your work. Your decks and everything in them: the conversation with Expliqua, the slides, the files you attach (a PDF’s text and figures), pictures made or uploaded, narration scripts and audio, flashcards, reviews, courses and the plans for them.
  • Your classes. When a class answers on their phones: the questions as asked, each answer, the questions students ask, and the name each student typed, if you asked for one.
  • Purchases. Which plan you’re on, the credits each purchase brought, and what Expliqua spent credits on. Polar handles the payment itself; we never see your card number.
  • How Expliqua runs. Logs and traces of each request (timing, errors, how many tokens a model call used) to keep it working. They don’t carry the words of your lessons.

What we do with it

We use it to run Expliqua for you: to draft, draw and narrate your lessons, show them to you and to those you share them with, count your credits, and fix what breaks. We don’t sell it, we don’t show ads, and we don’t use your lessons to train models. We’ll disclose data only if the law makes us.

Who helps us

Expliqua is built on other companies’ services. Each one sees only what its job needs:

  • OpenAI (United States) writes the slides, draws the pictures, records the narration and runs web searches, so it receives your messages, your attached files’ text and figures, and the slides it’s working on. OpenAI doesn’t train its models on what it receives through its API.
  • Google signs you in.
  • Polar (with Stripe underneath) sells the plans and takes payment, so it keeps your email, your orders and the card.
  • Railway (United States) hosts Expliqua and its database, where everything above is stored, and Cloudflare carries the connection.
  • Modal runs the code that draws a plot, in a sealed sandbox that sees the plot’s numbers and nothing else.
  • LlamaCloud reads a presentation you import, page by page.
  • Pydantic Logfire (United States) receives the logs and traces of how Expliqua runs: timings, errors and token counts, not the words of your lessons.

Students

  • Students have no accounts. They join a class with a code, open what you share by link, and answer from a phone or a browser that keeps its own progress (which slides were read, which flashcards known) on that device.
  • What a student types in class (a first name or a list number, when you ask for one; answers; questions) is kept with your class, for you. Their names reach only you: other phones never see who asked, and the model that writes your class insights sees answers as numbers.
  • You and your school decide what students may do and what consent that needs. If a student, a parent or a school wants something of theirs removed, you can delete the class, or write to us and we’ll do it.

Cookies

Expliqua sets a cookie to keep you signed in and one to remember whether the sidebar is open. Your theme and a student’s progress stay in the browser’s own storage. There are no tracking cookies and no analytics.

How long, and how to delete

  • We keep your data while you have an account. You can delete a deck in the library at any time, and it goes with everything in it.
  • To delete your account, write to support@expliqua.com from its address; we delete it within 30 days. Records of purchases and spend stay as long as accounting rules require, without your decks.
  • Backups of the database are kept for a short while and expire on their own.

Your rights

You can see what we hold, correct it, take it with you (export a deck as PowerPoint or PDF at any time) and have it deleted: the rights Mexican law calls ARCO, and the ones your own country gives you wherever you are. Write to support@expliqua.com for any of them; we answer within 20 working days, as the law asks.

Security

Everything travels encrypted, and only the people who run Expliqua can reach its database. No service is perfectly safe, so if we learn of a breach that touches your data we’ll tell you.

Changes

If we change what we keep or who sees it, we’ll update this page and tell you in the app or by email before it applies. Our terms say the rest.
